The Tu-95 bomber was a type of long-range strategic bomber of the Soviet Union. Developed by the Tupolev Aircraft Design Bureau of the Soviet Union in 1951, the first prototype made its maiden flight in 1954, and the first batch of production models began to be delivered for use in 1956. More than 300 early models were produced. Besides being used as strategic bombers, they could also carry out tasks such as electronic reconnaissance, photographic reconnaissance, maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare, and communication relay.
