In detector mode, the searches for signals transmitted by a small probe or camera with a built in transmitter that is wired through pipes. The detector must emit a 512Hz signal, and the can determine the approximate depth of the target. When you reaching the point where the signal seems strongest, moving in any direction will weaken it, and then you know you have found the detector directly below the antenna pole. Move to another location, search for this signal again, see if you always return to the same spot for confirmation. If you correctly perform each step, you should consistently find yourself right above the transmitter each time. Keep practicing until you get consistent results.
